HubBub UMTS
Product Overview
Airvana’s HubBub UMTS is a small, inexpensive “personal” access point, or femtocell access point. When deployed in homes and offices, the HubBub UMTS will allow subscribers to use their existing UMTS handsets – in-building – with significantly improved coverage and increased broadband wireless performance. Airvana’s HubBub UMTS uses Internet Protocol (IP) to deliver high-quality voice and multimedia services via broadband Internet connections such as DSL, cable, or fiber optic networks. This IP-based architecture allows the HubBub UMTS to be deployed and managed in virtually any environment where there is broadband Internet service.
To ensure trusted security and reliable mobility, Airvana’s HubBub UMTS is connected through a Femto Network Gateway to an operator’s existing Core Network of MSCs, SGSNs and GGSNs. The Femto Network Gateway performs the function of a security and mobility gateway, and is designed to handle large numbers of HubBubs, becoming a critical anchor point for Airvana’s HubBub Femtocell-based networks.
