The Flat Architecture Base Station combines base station, RNC, and packet data serving node (PDSN) functionality into a single device. Combining these functions makes the network more reliable and easier to engineer and deploy. This product is intended for use initially in enterprise, campus, hot spot, and public safety deployments.
Personal Base Stations, sometimes called "femto" cells, are an exciting new product category that promises to economically extend mobile broadband coverage into the home. Airvana's HubBub femtocell usees the subscriber's existing wired broadband connection as the path to the operator's core service network.
In the Core Network, Airvana's Universal Access Gateway (UAG) enables mobile phone users to roam between outdoor "macro" and in-building networks. The UAG provides mobility for handoffs between different types of access points, and security for the carrier's network.
