Product Overview
Airvana’s IP-RAN Series is a full suite of products that support the implementation of an end-to-end EV-DO radio access network infrastructure. The IP-RAN Series consists of the IP-RN 8000, a standalone EV-DO radio node (RN), the IP-RNC, a radio network controller (RNC), and the AirVista management system, which facilitates rapid network integration and service introduction. Airvana’s products comply with CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and 3GPP2 standards.
The IP-RAN Series is based on Airvana’s IP-RAN architecture. This architecture uses Internet Protocol (IP) rather than proprietary protocols for communication between the Radio Node (RN) and the Radio Network Controller (RNC) in the radio access network (RAN). This architecture delivers carrier-grade mobility, scalability and reliability, is optimized for mobile broadband multimedia service deployment, and reduces capital and operational costs in comparison to proprietary protocol-based alternatives.
IP-RNC Radio Network Controller
Superior Mobility Management
The IP-RNC performs 1xEV-DO call processing, controls radio resources on multiple Airvana IP-RN 8000s over a high speed IP interface, coordinates subscriber handoffs as mobiles move between cell sites, and provides a Packet Control Function (PCF), communicating with the Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) over a standard R-P network interface.
RNC 9000
The RNC 9000 brings together Airvana’s feature rich EVDO Radio Node Controller (RNC) software with a carrier class ATCA hardware platform. The platform and all components are fully redundant and support carrier-grade features such as NEBS compliance, ETSI, and 99.999% availability. The RNC 9000 provides best in class serviceability features and high performance that future proof an EVDO network for growing traffic and reliability demands. RNC 9000 has a performance and capacity improvement of 4x over its predecessor, RNC 8600. Also, RNC 9000 has the ability to scale to 10x with head room for feature growth.
IP-RN 8000 Radio Node
Rapid, Cost-Effective Deployment of Broadband Mobile Services
Airvana’s IP-RN 8000 is an EV-DO Radio Node that enables the delivery of mobile broadband data services. A single IP-RN 8000 can serve up to 3,000 network subscribers within a radius of 5-15 km each downloading 150 Mbits of data per month. The highly reliable IP-RN 8000 supports rapid and cost-effective delivery of a wide range of broadband services to mobile, residential and enterprise customers.
AirVista Management System
Seamless Network Integration
The AirVista web-based management system is used to manage an Airvana Radio Access Network (RAN) consisting of IP-RN 8000s and IP-RNCs. AirVista provides a full suite of network-management applications, such as fault and alarm management, performance management, configuration management, security management and auto-discovery. AirVista is developed on an IP platform that allows customers to build customizable, high performance and scalable network-management solutions. One of the key benefits of AirVista is the ability to securely access, configure and control RAN elements over a standard IP network. AirVista web-based clients feature easy-to-use browser-based graphic user interfaces.
